History
Stephanie Pincus, M.D., M.B.A., is Emeritus Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology of the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo and a member of the teaching faculty at the VA Western New York Health Care System. Until November, 2004, she led the teaching mission of the Department of Veterans Affairs in Washington, D.C. as the Chief Academic Affiliations Officer (CAAO), managing the largest health education training program in the country. Previously, she headed the Department of Dermatology at SUNY Buffalo where she was the first woman chair in the medical school. Her academic career began at the University of Washington and was followed by appointments in Internal Medicine and Dermatology at Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr Pincus received her M.D. cum laude from Harvard Medical School and her MBA from the JL Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. She trained in Internal Medicine at Boston City Hospital and the University of Washington, and in Dermatology at the University of Washington. She held the prestigious NIH Clinical Investigator award and ran a grant-funded laboratory program prior to entering administration.
A national healthcare leader, she has served as President of the Harvard Medical Alumni Association, President of the Women's Dermatologic Society, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a representative to the Council on Graduate Medical Education, the National Board of Medical Examiners, and the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education. Throughout this period she has been a passionate advocate for women physicians and women's health. On a personal note she is married to Dr. Allan Oseroff and the mother of Matthew, Tamara, and Benjamin.
